Composite veneers

Individual design for a harmonious, natural smile.

What it is

Composite veneers are an aesthetic restoration applied to the front surface of the teeth. They can be used to improve the shape, proportions and overall appearance of the smile, always according to the needs and conditions of each case.

At the practice, design is individual: materials, shades and morphology are chosen to harmonise with the features of the face and the rest of the teeth.

Who it is for

For selected cases with small aesthetic imperfections, asymmetries, gaps, wear, or changes in the shape and shade of the teeth. Suitability is assessed separately for each patient.

Indications

What can they correct?

Depending on the case, composite veneers can be used to improve the shape, proportions and overall harmony of the smile.

  • Discolouration & surface flaws

Where a change, or greater uniformity, in the shade of the teeth is wanted.

  • Shape & proportion

Small deviations in the length, width and morphology of selected teeth, so that they sit better within the smile.

  • Small chips & cracks

Composite resin can restore small losses of tooth structure and flaws in the outline.

  • Small gaps

Selected gaps between teeth can be reduced or closed by shaping the resin accordingly.

  • Asymmetries

Differences in size or shape, where improvement is possible without extensive intervention.

Suitability is assessed clinically before any intervention.

Why composite veneers

A conservative approach to the aesthetics of the smile.

  1. Natural aesthetics

Shade and morphology are chosen so that the result harmonises with the face and the rest of the teeth.

  2. Individual design

Each veneer is shaped to the proportions of the smile and the needs of the patient.

  3. Conservative approach

In suitable cases, little or no removal of tooth structure may be needed. This is decided separately for each patient.

  4. Direct application

Depending on the number of teeth and the complexity of the case, treatment can be completed within a short time.

  5. Repairable

If a restoration wears or chips, composite can often be repaired locally without full replacement.

  6. No laboratory

Shaping takes place directly at the practice, so the dentist can check proportions and detail as the work proceeds.

The process

From the design to the final result.

Every restoration is designed around the features of the teeth, the smile and the face.

  1. Smile analysis

We assess the teeth, the proportions of the smile and the features of the face.

  2. Shade & shape

We select shades and morphology with a harmonious result in mind.

  3. Application

Composite resin is shaped directly on the tooth, following the treatment plan.

  4. Curing & refinement

The material is cured with a special light, followed by detailed shaping.

  5. Polishing

The surface is smoothed and polished to a natural texture and lustre.

Longevity & care

How long they last is also a matter of care.

The lifespan of composite veneers depends on many factors, such as the bite, diet, bruxism, oral hygiene and regular maintenance.

  • Keep up good oral hygiene.

  • Avoid biting very hard objects.

  • Follow the review and maintenance schedule recommended to you.

  • Tell your dentist if you clench or grind your teeth.

Questions

Frequent questions

About this service.

Yes, in many cases they can be modified or replaced. The condition of the existing veneers and of the teeth needs to be assessed first.

Composite resin does not whiten the way a natural tooth does. If you would like a change of shade, we need to assess the existing restorations and the options available.

Depending on the extent of the damage, a composite veneer can often be repaired or restored. The right solution is decided after examination.

Whitening acts on natural teeth and does not change the shade of composite resin in the same way. That is why the order of aesthetic treatments needs to be planned carefully.

It depends on the kind of treatment needed and the condition of the veneer. The area is assessed and the most suitable approach is chosen.

The effect on tooth tissue depends on the design and technique of the treatment. In suitable cases composite veneers can be applied conservatively, with minimal intervention.

They are different treatment options, with different characteristics in application, maintenance, aesthetic behaviour and cost. The more suitable choice depends on the condition of the teeth and the result you want.
